About Us

Famille VAILLANT,
winemakers

Since the 17th century, the Vaillant family has passed on family lands from generation to generation. Brothers and sister, with our team, we practice biodynamics since 2008. To express the authenticity of the wines, we pay particular attention to the work in the vineyard.
Domaine Les Grandes Vignes, located in Thouarcé, offers its organic wines A.O.C. from organic farming and biodynamics, certified AB and DEMETER.
We invite you to discover our different appellations.
For the range of red wines, find our Anjou Villages and Anjou Rouge. Also enjoy our sweet wines with Bonnezeaux Bio and Coteaux du Layon Bio. Finally, browse our Anjou Blanc Sec, our vintage wines and all our sparkling wines.

The vines we cultivate in organic farming and biodynamics cover 55 hectares and are planted with Chenin grapes for whites, Cabernet Franc, Grolleau, and Pineau d’Aunis for reds and Cabernets and Grolleau for rosés. The wines we offer owe their variety to the different exposures and nature of soil that compose it: gray and green shale, phtanite, quartz, shelled falun, sands, gravels rolled.

The biodynamic allows us a global approach of the plant and the environment according to the influences that come from the land, the air and the water. The vine thrives in the best possible environment, making it less susceptible to pests and limiting the use of cupric porridge and sulfur. The development of microbial soil life is a priority so that the roots draw all the useful elements from the source rock. Then, we promote the development of many annual and perennial grasses, which bring a biodiversity favorable to the ecosystem. We are also attentive to the rhythm of the planets and adapt some works, especially the work of the soil, to take advantage of the favorable influences. The vine becomes more resistant and some applications of herbal teas, small doses of cupric and sulfuric porridge allow us to obtain beautiful and regular harvests. All this work, in intelligence with our environment, brings very interesting results at the level of the quality of the wines but also at the human level. It is indeed a great pleasure to feel in harmony with nature.

In the cellar, we do not intervene very much on wines, no exogenous inputs as well as little transfer. All our wines are No added sulphites not glued and unfiltered with the exception of residual sugar wines (2 to 3 mg / L of SO2). We favor fruit days for racking and bottling. Nearly 300 barrels are the focus of attention to ensure optimum vinification and aging.
